About Amanda
At Wildwood Therapy I work as an Integrated Therapist and Hypnotherapist, supporting you on your personal journey towards reconnecting with your authentic self, cultivating meaningful change, and nurturing your capacity for healing and growth.
My approach is rooted in deep empathy, offering a safe and welcoming space for you to:
Rediscover and realign with your innate sense of self,
Explore, understand, and navigate your personal challenges,
Empower yourself to create and sustain lasting changes for a more fulfilled life, and
Foster growth, strength, and healing in an environment of trust and safety.
The depth of support I offer clients is supported by my ongoing professional development since commencing my private therapy practice in 2020 and over 15 years of prior experience in roles within forensic psychology in the NHS and Justice System. The threads of these experiences are woven deep within my therapeutic practice and allow me to support people seeking help with a broad spectrum of difficulties. Whether you want help with profound personal struggles or simply a compassionate, non-judgemental space to be truly heard, I focus on understanding and responding to your unique needs with clarity and sensitivity.
Employing a diverse range of therapeutic approaches and knowledge, and informed by my ongoing commitment to learning, I carefully integrate techniques into my practice to work in a manner that is responsive to each individual, rooted in collaboration, and tailored to your unique journey. My extensive experience supporting people with complex trauma, wide-ranging emotional difficulties, multiple and co-occurring diagnoses (such as ADHD, personality disorders, mood, and anxiety disorders), and diverse behavioural challenges (such as addictions, self-harm, self-sabotage, aggression, and problematic relationship patterns), extend my ability to ensure I meet you wherever you are in your process, adapting sessions to your specific needs.
Drawing upon a psychodynamic approach and informed by well-established psychological theories (such as attachment theory), I create a nurturing environment where you can explore and address deep-rooted relational difficulties with yourself, others, and the world around you. Gently guiding you through psychological processes I help you strengthen your insights and self-awareness, build compassion for yourself, and enhance your ability to create and maintain the changes that are most meaningful to you.

I believe that healing is a deeply personal and evolving process that all have the power to achieve when provided with the right support.
Through a compassionate and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, I offer you a safe space to explore all aspects of yourself and your well-being. Whether you are struggling with self-esteem, a crisis of identity, patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that no longer serve you, or navigating significant life events and transitions – I will walk alongside and support you in your search for growth and clarity.
Together we identify the therapeutic approaches that resonate with you and are best suited to your individual needs. I integrate evidence-based practices and contemporary research to ensure that our work together remains grounded in the most effective methods for lasting change. For example, I might incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), mindfulness, or hypnotherapy – drawing upon a broad skillset tailored to match your wishes, goals, and personal preferences. How I offer sessions themselves is equally responsive to you, with appointments offered online, via phone, in a therapy room, or in nature through walk-and-talk therapy. Having long observed and experienced the therapeutic power of the natural world and movement, I incorporate this into sessions where appropriate and where you wish, tailoring to your needs and capacity.
Additionally, I offer a safe and understanding therapeutic space for those who have had anomalous or unexplained experiences. With sensitivity and empathy, I support you to explore unknown aspects of your inner world and the mysteries of the world around you, aware of the profound significance and impact such experiences can have, with emotions ranging from joy and wonder to terror and trauma. I recognise that the importance of having trust in a caring space to discuss and process your experiences without judgement can feel even greater when attempting to process and integrate events that you might struggle to frame within conventional understanding.
At Wildwood Therapy, the heart of my work is dedicated to fostering self-discovery. With a strong foundation built upon years of study, training, research, and experience, I combine my knowledge with a compassionate presence as I collaboratively support you on your journey.
I honour the uniqueness of your path and offer respect, trust, and a deep commitment to your growth and healing. Through the safety of the therapeutic relationship, I help you to navigate the unfolding process towards your goals, reconnect with your truest self, and find clarity amidst life’s challenges – empowering you to thrive in ways that are deeply authentic to you.
